Creating a product
Every product starts as a draft that only you can see. You fill it in, then publish it.
Start a draft
- Go to Your products and press New product.
- Enter a Title and a Price.
- Choose the Kind: Physical (you ship it) or Digital (instant download). You can't change the kind later.
- Press Create draft.
The product editor opens next.
Fill in the editor
- Photos: up to 8. See Product photos.
- Basics: the title, a Description and up to 20 Tags, separated by commas. Tags
can use the letters a to z, numbers, spaces and
- & ' . +. Press Save when you're done. A bar at the bottom shows when you have unsaved changes, and Discard puts back what was saved. - Pricing & stock: your price, an optional compare-at price, how many you have in stock, and an optional SKU. A new product starts with 0 in stock, so set your stock before you publish. You can add up to 10 variants. See Variants.
- Category, in the Organization card: where the product sits when shoppers browse. It saves as soon as you pick it.
- Tax details: what the item is. We fill this in from the category, and you can change it.
- Shipping: the shipping profile for a physical product. See Shipping profiles. A digital product needs its files instead. See Selling digital products.
Then press Publish on the Status card. If something is missing, see Why can't I publish?
Prices and currency
Every price is in your shop's currency. Buyers see your price, with an estimate in their own currency next to it.
Copy, unpublish or archive
- Duplicate makes a new draft with the same details, variants and stock. Photos and download files aren't copied, so add them again.
- Unpublish takes a live product off sale and makes it a draft again.
- Archive this listing stops it being for sale, and buyers keep their order history. You can't delete a product, but you can archive it. An archived product can go back with Move to drafts.
Published products don't expire, so there's nothing to renew. If you rename a product that was already listed, its old link still works.
