Taxes on your sales
You're the seller, so any tax on your sales, such as sales tax, VAT or GST, is yours to register for, charge, report and pay wherever the law requires.
Note
Plukio does not collect, charge or pay tax on your sales, and does not register or file returns for you.
Plukio's checkout doesn't add tax to your prices. If you're unsure what applies to you, ask a tax adviser where you live.
The Taxes page
Your shop's Taxes page shows what you sold, where it went and what Plukio charged you, read from your orders as they were paid. Choose Month, Quarter, Year or Custom, then use the arrows to pick the period (for Custom, enter the dates and choose Show). It has four parts:
- Sales by destination: your orders, goods, downloads and shipping for each state and country you sold into. When a place has more than one kind of item, it's split by tax class.
- Refunds made: the refunds you made in the period, by place.
- Plukio's fees: what we charged you, with a link to your fee statement.
- Yearly summary: for each currency, your sales, refunds, Plukio's fees and your net.
Sales by destination, Plukio's fees and the yearly summary each have a Download CSV button (the sales file includes your refunds), so you can hand the figures to your accountant or bring them into your own bookkeeping.
Note
The Taxes page is on the web only. Each January, if you sold or paid fees the year before, your dashboard says "Last year's summary is ready."
How the figures are worked out
- A sale counts on the day it was paid. A refund counts on the day it was made, so a refund can land in a later period than its sale.
- Where a sale went: the shipping address for goods, the buyer's location for downloads.
- Net is your sales, less refunds and Plukio's fees, before Stripe's own fees.
Your listings' tax class
Each listing has a Tax details card in its editor, with a tax class such as Jewelry or E-book or PDF to read. Until you choose one, the card says: "Filled in from the category. Change it if it's wrong: Plukio keeps it for tax records." The class is also how the Taxes page splits your sales. You can set it in the Plukio app too.
US tax forms
Plukio doesn't issue Form 1099-K. Stripe handles it for your Stripe account.
Your own tax details
Before a new shop opens, you give us your legal name, address and any tax numbers. See Tax details and VAT numbers.
