Messaging a shop

You can write to a maker on Plukio, and they can write back to you. You need to be signed in, and the conversation lives in Messages.

Which shops take messages

A shop takes messages when someone answers for it on Plukio: makers who sell on Plukio itself, and shop owners who have claimed their shop on Plukio. If a shop's page has no Message shop button, it doesn't take messages here. Contact it through its own website instead.

Starting a conversation

You can start from three places:

  • A shop's page: press Message shop.
  • An item's page: press Ask a question. The item is attached to your message, so the maker knows what you mean. Press the × on it if you'd rather not attach it.
  • An order you placed on Plukio: press Message shop, and the order is attached.

Then:

  1. The first time you message anyone, you read the messaging rules and press Agree and continue. You only do this once.
  2. If your account has no name yet, add one under Your name.
  3. Write your message, up to 4,000 characters, and press Send.

If you aren't signed in, the button takes you to sign in first and brings you back to the same page.

Note

The shop sees your name, never your email address.

Reading replies

Every conversation with a shop is in Messages, which is in the site menu once you're signed in. You have one conversation per shop: a new question to the same shop is added to it. In the iPhone and Android apps, Messages is the first row in Settings.

If you don't read a reply on Plukio, we email you. See Reply notifications.

Messages that don't send

Plukio stops some messages, like threats or a request for card details, before they reach anyone. See Message safety.
