Lenses: shop by scent, mood, look, materials or motif

Some categories have lenses. A lens reads every listing in a category the same way, using the maker's own description (or, for one lens, the photo), so you can browse by what it found instead of by keywords.

The lenses

Lens Where What it reads
Scent Fragrance, candles, bath and body Notes, families and character
Mood Fragrance, candles, bath and body How it feels: cozy, dark, fresh, playful
Look Jewelry Colour, finish, scale and what it depicts, from the photo
Materials Jewelry Metals, stones, materials and technique
Motif Jewelry What a piece depicts, and its style

Using a lens on a category

  1. Open a category, like candles or jewelry.
  2. Choose the Lens button next to the sort menu. It only appears when a lens reads that category.
  3. Pick a lens. The page is now read through it, and a row of its findings appears above the results: scent families, moods, colours and so on.
  4. Choose one to narrow the page to it. To stop using the lens, open the menu again and choose Off.

Price and stock still work as filters while a lens is on. Once you've chosen one of its findings, only Include out of stock changes what you see.

On a product page

If a lens has read a piece, its product page says what it found, like the scent's notes or the piece's motif. Below that is a link such as See everything that smells like this or See everything with the same motif.

Pages for one note, mood, motif or colour

Some findings have a page of their own that gathers everything carrying them, across kinds of product: for example, every candle, perfume and soap with fir in it. The notes and motifs named on a product page link to these pages.

Note

A lens is an automatic reading of what the maker wrote, so now and then it gets one wrong. The maker's own listing is always the one to trust.

In the apps

Category pages in the apps have the same Lens button, with Off to switch it off.
